Claudia Chircop’s work emerges from the embracing of fantasy and play, with a sweet reminisce of a moment, a time and a place. She seeks to weave compelling stories by capturing moods through colour and form.

Based in Malta.

Background

Following her B.A (Hons) in Fine Arts at MCAST (Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology) in 2013, Chircop furthered her studies in MA Character Animation at the University of Arts London, Central Saint Martins and graduated in July 2015 in the UK. 

Passionate about working with young people, both locally and abroad, she delivered art workshops in Germany, London and currently in Malta for the past seven years. With experience as an animator and a creative specialist in the marketing industry, she is now lecturing in Malta in a variety of creative cohorts.

Highlights

Her animation and videography was showcased at the Fashion Show organised by FAD (Fashion Awareness Direct) at the London Fashion Week 2014 and 2015. Chircop’s Fine Artwork ‘Controlled Adult, Unpredictable Child’ has been exhibited for four months at Saint James Cavalier in Valletta, Malta. Her Master’s graduation film ‘The Bench’ was nominated for the Monthly Film Festival (TMFF) in July 2015 and was screened at the Animated Spirits Film Festival in New York in 2016. ‘The Bench’ was awarded the 3rd prize at the Malta Cine Circle National Film Competition 2015 and awarded Best Use of Animation at the Malta Short Film Festival (MSFF) 2015. Chircop received the MMBF Rising Star Award from the UK based international charity at the MSFF and was nominated Best Director. In 2016, The Bench received the Best Video Award at the UNIV Congress in Rome, Italy.
