Following her B.A (Hons) in Fine Arts at MCAST (Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology) in 2013, Claudia Chircop furthered her studies in MA Character Animation at University of Arts London, Central Saint Martins and graduated in July 2015. She then worked as an animator and graphic designer at a Digital Marketing Agency in Malta for two years and since last April, she kept the same roles and started working at Toly Products, an established cosmetic packaging company in Malta. Chircop is very enthusiastic about working with young people both locally and abroad. She delivered art workshops to children at the Art Museum in Gelsenkirchen, Germany for two summers in 2012 and 2013, in London in 2015 and currently in Malta for the past 3 years.
Her animation and videography was showcased at the Fashion Show organised by FAD (Fashion Awareness Direct) at the London Fashion Week 2014 and 2015. Chircop’s Fine Artwork ‘Controlled Adult, Unpredictable Child’ has been exhibited for four months at Saint James Cavalier in Valletta, Malta. Her Master’s graduation film ‘The Bench’ was nominated for the Monthly Film Festival (TMFF) in July 2015 and was screened at the Animated Spirits Film Festival in New York in 2016. ‘The Bench’ was awarded the 3rd prize at the Malta Cine Circle National Film Competition 2015 and awarded Best Use of Animation at the Malta Short Film Festival (MSFF) 2015. Chircop received the MMBF Rising Star Award from the UK based international charity at the MSFF and was nominated Best Director. In 2016, The Bench received the Best Video Award at the UNIV Congress in Rome, Italy.
One of Chircop’s main strengths is her ability to weave a compelling story, which she does by capturing distinctive moods through illustration and 2D animation. Given her genuine interpersonal skills, she is always looking to forge new relationships as she develops her artistic talents.
